Giant Alligator Catches a Deer!

This picture was taken by a KTBS helicopter flying over Lake Conroe!
(For those of you who are not local, Lake Conroe is near Conroe , TX .)
That has to be a HUGE gator to have a whole deer in its mouth

This alligator was found between Athens and Palestine , Texas near a house.
Game wardens were forced to shoot the alligator- guess he wouldn't cooperate...

Anita and Charlie Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night.
Their neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the
waterway that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations.
"I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said. Friday they realized the stories were, if anything, understated.

Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast Joe Goff, 6'5" tall, a game warden with
the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, walks ! past a 23-foot, 1-inch alligator that he shot and killed in their back yard.

That is one huge beast! I would likely pee myself if such a sucker would pull up beside my fishing boat.

The gator had to be shot by game wardens because he was to close to houses. In other words he bcame dangerous to people.

The alligator with the deer in it's mouth was photographed by a forest service officer in a lake about 30 miles south of Savannah, Ga. in 2004. I have a boat on Lake Conroe & this gator was not in our lake. You can verify this by going to the U. S. Forest Service web page or "snopes.com".

I just came across this post. I'm wondering if this is where this false story started? It is easy to prove the first pic. is from Georgia. The second pic is a gator that WAS near Athens Texas, in a private lake on a ranch. This pic was taken about 10 years ago. I know the owners and have seen the pics. Not sure why people have to make up stories!

Hi Anonymous - I got the story from the news reel and posted it as supplied to me. In the meantime many claim that this gator is from some or other state.Even Urban Myth a website that usually is pretty good at finding out the real story is not sure anymore.

The reason I decided to leave the story up is because wherever this alligator has been taken it a very impressive animal.
