A few days ago I received an email from an animal rights activist. It’s not the first time and like the ones before, mostly contains the kind of language that cannot be printed in a publication such as this. The thing that baffles me time and again is how these people can put “love”, “respect” and “compassion” in the same sentence with wishes “… that you will die a gruesome death.” And to add emphasis to their universal hatred for hunters: “people like you should all be rounded up and summarily shot.”
Make no mistake, I am a great supporter of animal welfare organizations and have even volunteered my time for such. My faithful dog “Gazu” came from an animal shelter and the hard work volunteers do there every single day earns my deepest respect. But I deplore the many animal rights organizations, like PeTA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), the HSUS (Humane Society of the United States), and the slew of similar organizations that raise vast sums of money, most of which disappears into the pockets of their board members. These groups resort to lies and fabrications that are designed to tug on the heartstrings of children and city folks, to get them to donate money.
While PeTA claims that they do not endorse violence against people to intimate others a little research about that organization quickly shows that they readily support radical and militant animal rights terrorists, that blow up, or set fire to, farms and other animal husbandry systems. PeTA founder and president for life, Ingrid Newkirk, even went so far as to say; “The activists of the ALF (Animal Liberation Front) are the true heroes of animal liberation.” This is the organizations that the FBI and the US government officially declared “Domestic Terrorists”.
How far this hatred can go became evident a few weeks ago. A father posted a picture on his facebook site of his son with the first deer he shot. It took all of 24 hours to get over 150 comments from animal rights activists. Most of the comments in some form or other voiced not only displeasure about the image but also a violent death to the child. One of the animal rights activists recognized the boy and revealed his address on facebook, commenting “…someone should go there and kill that little f… the same way he killed that innocent deer.” I followed some of the protester’s profile links and to my horror learned that these comments were made by adults, most of them parents too. It begs the question of how low can someone sink in his political views that he wishes someone would inflict harm or kill a child. The father of the boy felt the need to contact the police and seek protection for his son from these radicals. This is by no means an isolated case. There are thousands of cases on social media where hunters are threatened. How are animal rights activists even made aware of hunters on social media? From organizations like PeTA which posts 24/7 “alerts” on their sites with the urging of “take action against this atrocity”. With that these organizations openly engage in the spread of hatred.
The fact animal rights folks overlook, and purposely so, is that all life on this planet is sustained by ending another life. Even vegetarians and vegans, which are some of the most hateful, ignorant and violent among the animal rights crowd, have blood on their hands. The crop fields, fruit and vegetable plantations were at one time wildlife habitat, and so are the towns and cities vegetarians live in and the roads they drive on with their cars. Pesticides used to protect crops kill billions of insects- insects which are the food source of songbirds, mice and other animals.
The wildlife that called these places home did not just yield willingly, they were displaced or killed. Vegetarians and animal rights activists wear shoes that are made from the skins of slaughtered cattle. Nutritional supplements like Iron and Vitamin B 12 that vegans need to supplement their diet, are for the most part derived from animal by-products.
Everybody dreams of a fantasy world where the lion sleeps with the lamb. But that is not how nature works. Nature works on the principle of eat and be eaten. Every living thing on this earth, even plants, prospers because something else died. It’s an endless cycle of creating life through death. It has been so since life first took hold on this earth and no animal rights terrorist agenda is going to change that.
When I kill an animal I do not gloat about it. I am proud of the fact that, as a hunter, I am able to provide healthy, organic and nutritious meat for our dinner table. Unlike animal rights activists, I have not lost touch with the real world around us and the part we play in it. I realized a long time ago that death must occur to sustain life. The difference is that some people can accept that fact and are stronger for it while others prefer to ignore the facts of life and choose to commit violent acts to support their radical political agenda.

PeTA Announces New Plan To Harass Anglers And Hunters
© By Othmar Vohringer
The animal rights lunatic fringe group PeTA announced that they will launch submersible drones called "Aquatic Angel" equipped with cameras to stalk anglers. The "Aquatic Angel" is the newest tool of this animal rights group, following on the heels of the "Air Angel" drones released in 2013 to harass hunters while in the field. I guess the drones are submersible for one reason only, to scare fish away from anglers.
The release is slated for tomorrow, September 27, which is the National Hunting and Fishing Day in the USA and Canada. Both countries have laws on the book that expressly protects anglers and hunters in the legal pursuit of game and fish from the interference through animal rights and anti hunting people. In other words, what PeTA does with the release of the spy drones is illegal and just another from of harassing hunter and anglers, and interfering with the legal taking of fish and game. I have heard of several reports where hunters have shot down spy drones, apparently they make for good target practice.
Read more about it on the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance Website.
And here is what the PeTA lunatics have to say.

Melissa Bachman Bullied Off National Geographic Channel By Anti-Hunting Lobby Petition.
By: Othmar Vohringer
Melissa Bachman, known as the “Hardcore Huntress”, producer and co-host of Winchester Deadly Passion, has been dropped as a planned participant in the of an upcoming National Geographic production called “Ultimate Survivor Alaska”. The decision has apparently been made after a petition, calling for the dismissal of Mellissa, a “heartless trophy hunter”, signed by more than 13,000 anti-hunters has been sent to the TV channel management.
According to a news story National Geographic apparently wasted no time to deny Bachman to take part in the show. In other words they let themselves be bullied into a decision by a mere handful of extremists. What boggles my mind is why would National Geographic reach such a decision? Isn’t hunting a part of the “ultimate survival” in the wilds of Alaska? To my knowledge you can’t survive in the vast wildness on vegetables alone.
But what more important, at least it is to me. Is the fact that Melissa Bachman has been discriminated against and I can’t help wondering what a smart lawyer could do with that blatant ant violation of the anti-discrimination act. Have we really come that far in our “civilized” world that a handful of radicals can decide what or who we can see on television? It’s not that National Geographic makes excuses about dropping Melissa, they are quite open about it that the decision has been made because of a petition.
While anti-hunters celebrate their victory over the “death celebrating murderer” they themselves show the true radical intensions with hundreds upon hundreds of death threats against Melissa Bachman.
Here’s a small sample of the more printable comment left on a facebook page.
“We will find you bitch and skin you alive.”
“I hope you and your children die a horrible death.”
“I’ll hunt you down and the slowly torture and kill you the same way you do with the animals.”
“We need to kill all hunters as they do not deserve to breathe the same air as the rest of the decent humans.”
Shocking, and these are people that promote compassion and kindness to all living things on this planet. The fact it that animal rights and anti-hunters are some of the most vile, hateful and self-centred people anyone could encounter.
As hunters, regardless if we agree with trophy hunting or not, we should weigh in on this issue and contact National Geographic and let them know what we think. To be quiet about this means we’re easy bush overs and bow down to discrimination against us. The last time I looked it up hunting was still a legal activity all across North America.
What’s your take on this story?

Local Anglers And Hunters Meet With NDP Leader Adrian Dix
(Previously published in the Merritt Herald - Othmar Vohringer, The Outdoorsman)
© By Othmar Vohringer
© By Othmar Vohringer
On Sunday, December 2, 2012, NDP leader Adrian Dix and Fraser-Nicola LMA Harry Lali hosted an election information event at the Tropico Spice restaurant in Merritt. Among the 100 plus people attending was a delegation of the Nicola Valley Fish & Game Club (NVF&GC). Harry Lali, who had attended a NVF&GC general meeting in early fall to discuss with us land access and confirming his political support, suggested that meeting Adrian Dix would be helpful to our cause. Rick McCowan, the land access committee chair of the NVF&GC had a chance to meet person to person with Mr. Dix before the event, providing him with the current information and a newly published information leaflet about land access problems here in the valley and across the province.
At the event Adrian Dix spent quite a bit of time at our table talking about the issues we presented to him and he seemed to be as concerned about land access as we are. A good sign!
Since I am not directly involved with the land access committee I must say that I am very impressed with what this small group of dedicated people in our club has achieved so far and all the hard work they put in to creating broad public awareness of the crown land access problem in our province.
While the BC Wildlife Federation, the province’s largest hunter and angler organization, is twiddling its thumbs on the issue our club has gathered immense momentum, attracting national media attention and support from many other organizations throughout our nation. The NVF&GC has without a doubt become the driving force of the land access campaign.
While our fathers and grandfathers could enjoy hunting and fishing without any concerns for the future, times have drastically changed since then. Today we have to become politically active in order to secure our heritage for future generations. Our outdoor sport heritage faces many challenges of which our forefathers wouldn’t dream of in their worst nightmares. Loosing access to public land is only one of these problems. Other problems are instigated from the myriad of popular self-proclaimed “animal welfare” organizations using vilification and misinformation targeted against hunters, and their recruitment of largely ignorant city/suburban peoples to their cause; particularly impressionable youth.
We need to challenge these problems as a united force in public, on the political stage and even in the courts or we stand to lose it all. I am proud to be a member of a small local organization that doesn’t just complain but is on the forefront of fighting for our future generations so they too can enjoy hunting, fishing and accessing lands, lakes and streams for generations to come. If you’re a concerned outdoor sportsperson and want to do your bit to preserve our heritage, rights and freedoms then you should be thinking about joining the Nicola valley Fish & Game Club.

Orphaned Kermode Bear Makes International Headlines
“Clover”, the orphaned and twice captured Kermode bear, finally found a permanent home at Kamloops Wildlife Park. But is all well? No. The notorious animal-rights activist group Lifeforce immediately started an international media campaign with which they lobby the release of the young bear back into the wild. Peter Hamilton, the leader of Lifeforce and the man who once suggested instituting a hunting season on hunters, wrote in a letter to B.C. Premier Christy Clark and NDP leader Adrian Dix, "Give this bear freedom. We don't need another exploited circus bear pacing back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. We don't need people profiting off the plight of this bear."
The truth of the matter is that the bear, which had gotten used to people, would return to humans every time as he has done in the past. In addition bears are notoriously territorial and no matter how far away they are taken they always will return to their original territory and very often need to be shot by Conservation Officers. In addition, given that “Clover” is only 18 months old his survival chances in another male bear’s territory would be slim at best. With all that in mind the best place for this bear is a facility like the Wildlife Park in Kamloops. Of course animal rights activists are not known to care about facts. Theirs is a purely emotional agenda based on wishful thinking and aimed largely at metropolitan populations that are totally removed from the natural world. People who have been spoon-fed a Walt Disney view of nature.

Global TV and Shaw Media Cancels All Hunting TV Shows
© By Othmar Vohringer
Global TV and Shaw Media, Canada’s largest television network, has announced that it will cancel all hunting shows on their network across Canada after December 30, 2012. The shows affected by this decision are; Canada In the Rough, The Canadian Tradition and Angler & Hunter Television. The network claims that declining viewer numbers are the reason for the cancellation, which in my humble opinion frankly is hogwash. A little search on the intent reveals that; A. The notorious animal rights organization, the Vancouver Humane Society, brags about their “success in petitioning the television network” to take the above shows off their network. B. A phone call to a person I know who works in the programing department of the network revealed to me that the shows actually gained in popularity.
Here is what I think happened. The hunting shows in question are not your typical shows that you see on subscription channels. These shows could be viewed by anyone. The reason the shows became popular, even with non-hunters, is because they emphasized the wildlife and habitat conservation aspect of hunting. Every show highlighted the many hunter founded organizations such as, Ducks Unlimited, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, The BC Wild Sheep Association plus an array of other noteworthy organizations. With that aspect of the hunting shows ordinary people became aware that hunters are not the barbaric uncaring bambi-killers after all. Ordinary people, who up until the airing of the shows only had the animal rights view of hunting, started to call the motives of these radical organizations into question. In my opinion this is what the Vancouver Humane Society motivated to launch a petition to cancel the shows. They wanted to silence the hunters. Animal rights hate the truth.

In Support Of grizzly Bear Hunting in British Columbia
© By Othmar Vohringer
Every year like clockwork anti hunting and animal rights groups get together to launch a “ban grizzly bear hunting” lobbying assault on the public and the political parties. These operations are based on little more then myth. Not only is British Columbia home to a healthy and thriving grizzly bear population, in some cases grizzly bears have populated near towns and cities where they pose a thread to people, pets and livestock.
Grizzly bear hunting in BC is subject to strict regulations and only possible through a limited entry hunting (LEH) system. This means that only very few grizzly bears can be hunted each year. This system has proven to be of great benefit for the bears as current population growth are evident across the province.
When anti hunting groups claim to protect wildlife and nature, in this case protecting grizzlies from hunters, it is worth mentioning that most of the money they collect from people is used to pay for the salaries of their leaders and very little if anything of that money is spent on the cause/s they proclaim. To verify where your donations actually go check this link. You will be surprised what happens to the money you thought is used for wildlife conservation.
To help bears please sign the petition in support of bear hunting. Hunting is a vital important ingredient of sound wildlife management based on science. It is this wildlife management system that has made British Columbia one of the wildlife richest regions in North America and the World.
If you’re a resident of British Columbia you may also contact your local NDP MLA and tell him/her how you feel about the NDP’s continued anti hunting stance. We’ve a provincial election coming up in 2013, and with all likelihood the NDP will be voted into power. Should that happen hunting for some species would be banned imminently. Among them are grizzly bears, black bears, mule deer and can you believe it even coyotes are on a long list of animals that according to the NDP need “urgent protection”.

PETA Unleashes Misguided Media Assault on D.Trump Sons African Hunt
© By Othmar Vohringer
Once again PeTA and other notorious animal rights groups use the celebrity status of hunters to launch their usual misguided media frenzies against hunters and hunting.
The following news has been supplied to me by US Sportsmen.org
Have you noted the growing trend in America? Citizens who go legally hunting and find success are finding themselves in the crosshairs of the animal rights lobby including groups such as PETA, Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), or other “public opinion police” groups. You have to ask yourself “when did someone put PETA or HSUS in charge of what you do on vacation?” Read on.
When TV personality Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump, went hunting in Africa, they found success. Included among their memory makers were photos of them with a killed elephant and crocodile. They also reportedly killed a kudu and a waterbuck. It’s important to note that none of these species are endangered, and when taken by hunters the local residents obtain an instant source of food and a major economic boost. Hunting actually ensures that villagers value animals such as elephants which often do terrible damage to crops. Donald Trump, Jr. stated that the animals provided needed food in many Africa villages.

Animal Rights Extremist Pleads Guilty To Arson Charges
© By Othmar Vohringer
Walter "Lone Wolf" Bond, 35, pleaded guilty last week to federal charges of arson and violence involving animal enterprises. The notorious animal rights activist has a long rap sheet of criminal activity ha has previously been sentenced to five years in prison in Colorado for arson and could face another 20 years for the Utah fires.
Prosecutor John Huber said the government will argue to make the Colorado and Utah sentences consecutive to one another. "He is unapologetic. He is an unrepentant serial arsonist," Huber said, adding in the eyes of the federal government, people who commit crimes in the name of animal rights are considered "domestic terrorists."
Googling the name of this terrorist will bring up a long list of his criminal activity, but also things like “Free Walter Bond” and “Freedom for Walter Bond”. It does tell you something about organizations that profess compassion for all living things in public but at the same time give hero status to terrorists.

Hunters Win Major Courtroom Battle Over Hunting on Public Lands
© By Othmar Vohringer
Over the past few years hunters and anglers have won several court battles against the anti hunters and animal rights. It delights me to see that animal rights keep losing more ground and the article below supplied to me by the US Sportsmen’s Alliance is another mayor achievement in our fight to retain our right to hunt.
(Columbus, OH) – The lengthy battle over hunting access on dozens of units of the 100 million-acre National Wildlife Refuge system has ended—and hunters can declare VICTORY! In April 2011, federal Judge James S. Gwin ruled for sportsmen across America by granting summary judgment in favour of the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and other defendants while denying a lawsuit aimed at closing hunting on National Wildlife Refuge System parcels. After this ruling, an appeal process was opened, and the appeal clock began ticking. On Monday, that appeal period came to an end with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) failing to file any appeal.
“This long sought win is a great victory for hunters everywhere, and reinforces the process of keeping national wildlife refuges open for hunting, by hunters,” said Bill Horn, the US Sportsmen’s Alliance director of federal affairs.
This long-running case began in 2003, when the Fund for Animals, which later merged with the HSUS, filed a lawsuit to stop hunting on 39 refuges. The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance Foundation (USSAF), along with other organizations, intervened on behalf of sportsmen. Anti-hunting groups later expanded the lawsuit to nearly 60 refuges. USSAF defended this case for eight years, through many rounds of hard-fought and costly briefing, providing stability in the defence as the U.S. attorneys assigned to the case changed frequently over that time.
Judge Gwin’s April 2011 ruling stopped HSUS' attempt at using the National Environmental Policy Act to close hunting on these refuges. In making the decision, the judge noted that “Plaintiffs, however, are not entitled to an inviolate sanctuary for their preferred uses – Congress has determined that, to the extent possible, hunters, fishers, observers, photographers, and educators must share the refuge.”

British Columbia Grizzly Bear Management Plan – NOT
The following has been submitted by Wilf Pfleiderer,
BC Wildlife Federation Wildlife Committee Chair on behalf of the BC Wildlife Federation membership.
Once again First-Nations and some Anti-Hunting “outdoor exclusionists” are back at it again trying to erode away our hunting opportunity. If you want our Grizzly Bear population to be managed on science, rather than emotional, social arguments that will be detrimental to the bears you need to act now!

BC Wildlife Federation Brief
Coastal Grizzly Bear Hunting
The BC Wildlife Federation wishes to express their grave concerns regarding the Coastal Grizzly Bear Hunting proposals developed through Government to Government treaty negotiations. Should the proposals be adopted by the provincial government it will set many new precedence’s for wildlife management in BC. It will exceed the recognized constitutional rights for First Nations involvement in wildlife management. More importantly it will reduce defensible science base management of wildlife to socially based management which in turn is not defensible, and will lead to the erosion of resident hunting opportunity throughout the province.

PeTA Accused Of Spy Plot
© By Othmar Vohringer
The following press release has been sent to me by the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance.
The following press release has been sent to me by the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance.
The animal rights group PETA may be stepping into some hot water in the Sooner state. The director of an Oklahoma animal park claims to have evidence that PETA used a former employee as a spy in order to give the park a black eye.
Joe Schreibvogel, the director of G.W. Exotic Animal Park, indicated he has a taped confession that proves PETA paid the employee to essentially act as a spy. Schreibvogel says the employee used an external hard drive to copy files from the park’s main computer and that he used a camera to take pictures that might be embarrassing. That camera was allegedly purchased for the employee by PETA.
The County Sheriff’s office is currently investigating the claims and whether any laws related to downloading of information were violated. As of press time, no arrests have been made or charges filed.
In quotes to the media, Schreibvogel states, “If they make it look like they're rescuing our animals then more money goes to PETA.”
He also maintains that the park has received high marks over the last few years with all required state and federal inspections.

PeTA Targets Sarah Palin
© By Othmar Vohringer
It was just a question of when, not of will it happen, that the notorious animal rights activist group PeTA would take a swing at former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Sarah’s pro hunting and pro firearm stance and the fact that she is very outspoken about it in public make her a prime target for animal rights and liberal anti gun fanatics.
PeTA issued a scornful press statement after the airing of Palin’s new reality show “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” (It’s one of the few reality TV shows I actually enjoy watching) in which she hunted caribou with her father in Alaska.

PETA Buys Advertising Space on Dying Mans Urn

When I read the press release about PETA buying ad space on a urn, issued by the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance, I thought it was a sick joke. Well it is sick but no joke. PETA is known to stoop to the lowest depth of good taste and common decency.
PETA has given new meaning to the phrase “ashes to ashes and dust to dust,” after the animal rights group purchased advertising on a dying man’s urn.
Aaron Jamison, a comic based in Oregon who suffers from a terminal case of colon cancer, offered to sell advertising space on the urns that will hold his cremated remains in order to avoid having his wife pay the costs associated with the process.
PETA pounced on the idea and offered $200 for the space. One will read: “'I've Kicked the Bucket - Have you? Boycott KFC,” and another, “'People who Buy Purebred Dogs Really Burn Me Up. Always Adopt.”
“If taking advantage of a dying man and publicizing insensitive ads is your thing, I guess PETA’s latest antics are no big deal,” said Doug Jeanneret, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance vice president of marketing. “However, for normal citizens, this animal rights group has stooped to yet another low just to get some publicity.”

The 2010 Olympic Winter Games and Animal Rights
© By Othmar Vohringer
The Olympic Winter Games in British Columbia were widely used to stage another Olympics of sorts. Animal rights activists, anti hunting groups and self-proclaimed wildlife conservationists from around the world encroached on Vancouver from the U.S.A., Germany, Australia, Ireland, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain and Switzerland. Yes that’s right, from my own birth country. I hang my head in shame.
While the real Olympic athletes competed honourably for medals in various athletic disciplines the animal rights groups competed for media and public attention with their heated rhetoric geared to evoke emotional reactions and loosen the wallets of a largely fact ignorant people. Anti seal hunt demonstrations throughout Vancouver and on television where part of the animal rights international media blitz Olympics. Even the athletes where not spared from animal rights attacks, either because the athlete is a hunter or trapper, such as the Canadian Biathlete, Megan Imrie, who posed proudly in front of her fur shed, or like American figure skater Johnny Weir who lets everybody know willing to listen that he likes to wear fur on and off the ice.
Why choose British Columbia, or Canada for that matter, to stage the largest anti hunting and animal rights demonstration the world has ever seen? Well Canada is the only country in the word that hunts the "cuddly" seals. The images of “slaughtered baby seals” that are "torn away from their wailing mothers", according to animal right rhetoric, have been a huge moneymaker for them. It is for this and no other reason that animal rights use pictures and film footage of a newborn harp seals (whitecoats) and hooded seals (bluebacks), which by the way are outlawed to hunt in Canada since 1987. But you would never guess that fact from the old revamped 50's and 60's, or digitally made up, pictures and film clips the animal rights circulate on their websites, advertising flyers and fundraising events. It has the desired shock value and that in turn means billions of donations are flowing in which are used to fabricate more horror stories, emotional blackmail and armchair science for the gullible masses.
To add more effect to the staged drama animal rights often accuse seal hunters to “skin seals while they are still alive”. Incidentally the same unfounded hideous claims are made about slaughterhouses skinning and chopping up livestock while still alive. A study commissioned by the Canadian government in 2002 and published in the Veterinary Journal found that “seals taken during a hunt are killed in an acceptable humane manner.” The Canadian Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) cited in an inquiry to the allegations that 98 % of hunted seals it examined had been killed properly. The study and inquiry are proof that the seal hunt opponents are wrong and clearly maintain the “barbaric” image of seal hunters for their own financial gains.
What about the claim that seals are a species at risk? Well you do the math. Canada’s seal population is an estimated 6.5 Million and growing. The federal annual seal harvest quota is between 92,000 and 226,000. Harvest quotas are adjusted annually up or down to adjust to the overall seal population. You see the seal hunt in Canada is not only an economic necessity for many people living way up north but also a wildlife management program. The same wildlife management program that is responsible for Canada’s large variety of wildlife species in healthy sustainable and well balanced populations.
Despite the media circus the animal rights staged and their offensive in-your-face, often violent too, approach on the streets all over Vancouver and Whistler most people ignored them. British Colombians paid billions of dollars to have the Olympics here and we are not about to have the biggest party of our lifetime spoiled by a few hundred sour crapes.
By the way our Canadian athletes did better than anyone had expected. As of this writing 13 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals is nothing to be sneezed at. Canada is after America and Germany on 3th place of the countries that won the most medals. By the end of the Games Canada could well be on 2nd. place. Congratulations to our athletes. Go Canada Go!

NBC Refuses to air PETA Thanksgiving Commercial
© By Othmar Vohringer
According to a U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance news release plus several newspaper reports the NBC refuses to play a Thanksgiving commercial produced by the notorious animal rights group PETA.
A spokes person for the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance said; “The “Grace” ad produced by PETA starts off innocently with a cute, young girl sitting at the dinner table with her family. She is asked to give a Thanksgiving blessing and goes into a long winded, and very graphic dissertation about the “cruelty” of turkey farming.”
According to PETA’s blog, it submitted the ad to NBC so that it could run during coverage of the annual Macy’s Day Parade on Thanksgiving Day. NBC responded that it required more information before it would run the ad. PETA responded with some of its outrageous propaganda but was disappointed when NBC still came firmly down against allowing the ad to air.
“It is highly inappropriate, but not unexpected for PETA to attempt to hijack a family tradition in order to push its radical message,” said Bud Pidgeon, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance president and CEO. “Just like with the Super Bowl commercial, NBC made the right call.”
I too think that the NBC made the right call to turn the PETA commercial down and since it is Thanksgiving I would like to encourage hunters and anglers reading this blog to give thanks to the NBC for this wise decision. Contact NBC.
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody.

Last Call- Block the Czar- Action Needed Today
Media Release by U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance - By now you should already be well aware of our effort to block President Obama’s radical, animal rights supporting, anti-hunting “Regulatory Czar”, Cass Sunstein. We’ve been asking sportsmen to contact BOTH of their U.S. senators for weeks.NOW is crunch time. It appears that the Senate will be taking up this nomination when they return to Washington, D.C. after Labor Day. This means there will likely be a vote as early as Wednesday, September 9. If you haven’t made the calls yet to your senators, NOW is the time to do it.
Remember, this is a person who has written that animals should SUE HUMANS and that recreational hunting should be BANNED! These views are intolerable for someone to possess who will have control over all federal regulations.
For more information on Cass Sunstein, Click Here. Make sure to click the link for writing your senator and make YOUR voice heard.
For more information regarding the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alert Network, call 614-888-4868, or email Greg R. Lawson, director of communications at glawson@ussportsmen.org or Sharon Hayden, assistant director of communications at shayden@ussportsmen.org.
Here are a few I found out about Cass Sunstein. Ir’s scary how un-American this guy is.
On a speech made in 2007 he proclained that hunting should be outlawed inmidieatly nationwide.
On another speech a few months ago Sunstein said that the internet is “anti-democratic” because a website owner can deside what information he she wants to publish on it and filter out any information that they deem objectionable. Sinstein said. “Legal requirments should be put in place that forces website owners to put fair and balanced information out.” (This means that hunting blogs would have to post animal rights points of views too and Cristian sites would also have to endorse Satanic cults.)
Sunstain also wants to see regulations that would make it mandatory for specialiazed email software that automatically destrys any email containing “uncivil” content.
In his book “Radical to Robes” Sunstein writes that he believes that all gun control legislation is constitutionally congruent. He believes that the U.S. Supreme Court “got it wrong” in determining that the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms applies to individuals.
In his 2004 book entitled “Animal Rights” he wrote that he believed that “Animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives …”
These are just a few of the totalitarian Stalinist views Sunstein has about how people should be controlled and governed and that’s the man President Obama want as his regulatory czar.

Rabbits, Australia’s number one feral pest
© Othmar Vohringer
Rabbits are Australia’s most widespread and destructive environmental and agricultural pest animals. Rabbits are not native to Australia. The rabbits have been introduced from England around 1827 and quickly spread all over Australia. Within a few decades their numbers grew to millions, making the rabbit the fasted growing population of introduced species anywhere in the world.
The impact of rabbits on native plants and agricultural crops includes damage to vegetation through ringbarking, grazing and browsing. Rabbits also prevent regeneration of native plants by eating seedlings. As well as causing detrimental habitat change, rabbits threaten native mammals through direct competition for food and shelter.
The damage to the agricultural economy is estimated to be in the billions and the damage to wild habitat and wildlife is considered “threatening”. Compared with Europe and America, Australia has few predators and lacks wild predatory species (e.g. ferrets and weasels), which kill young rabbits in great numbers. Australia's moderate to tropical climate permits rabbits to breed throughout the year, often having as many as four times offspring. A rabbit can raise as many as 16 young. The survival chances of the offspring is regraded "excellent" due to the preferable climate and the lack of predators that feed on rabbits. To give birth and raise their young rabbits burrow deep holes in the ground. A large population of rabbits can completely destroy vast tracts of land with underground tunnels.
Overgrazing by rabbits removes plant cover and contributes to soil erosion. Rabbits cause changes in the quality of flora and habitat of native fauna. Most rabbit damage to native vegetation occurs when the annual pasture dries off and rabbits are forced to eat native perennial plants.
Shooting, trapping, poisoning rabbits and using dynamite to blow up their burrows have little impact on the fast expanding rabbit population. In a last ditch effort to eradicate Australia’s number one pest the government introduced myxomatosis, a deadly illness that only befalls rabbits, but it did not have the hoped for effect to curb the devastating rabbit plague. The rabbit population is still growing out of control.
Yesterday I reported that PETA successfully bullied Alannah Hill into the discontinuation of using fur as trim for her famous fashion garments. Alannah caved in after PETA members sent over 4,000 abusive messages and threatened to kill her and harm her seven-year old son if she doesn’t stop to use fur. You may ask, “What has that to do with Australia’s rabbit pest problem?” I’ll tell you. Alannah Hill used exclusively wild rabbit fur for her fashion clothing and PETA objects to using a side product of a pest killed in the millions. In other words PETA puts animals over the interest of people. Even, as in this case, said animals destroy vast expanses of wildlife habitat and agricultural land.
It would be preferable to PETA if Australia is totally over run and destroyed by rabbits than having a fashion designer making use of a pests fur and making a living by doing so. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. PETA went many times on public record stating that an animal’s life is preferable over that of a human. Ingrid Newkirk made the following infamous statements; “Even if animal tests produced a cure for AIDS, we’d be against it.” Or how about this one “Humans have grown like a cancer. We're the biggest blight on the face of the earth.” Of course these are only two of many such human degrading statements, like the one where she compares the horrors endured by the Jews in Nazi Germany with that of chickens.
Mind you PETA only plays the animal advocate if it suits their agenda propaganda. Behind closed doors they have as little regard for animals as they have for humans. PETA kills more animals in their pet shelter than any other animal shelter in North America. PETA is so much into killing animals that some of the pets that are handed over to them never make it alive to the shelter, and that despite promising the owners of the pet to do their utmost to find a good home for it. There are also documented cases where PETA and the HSUS have willfully inflicted pain on animals in order to obtain “realistic” film footage for theit propaganda videos.
Can you spell “hypocrites”?

PETA succeeds in bulling fashion designer into submission
© By Othmar Vohringer
Yesterday I published a news release issued by the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance. According to which PETA launched death threats against renowned Melbourne fashion designer Alannah Hill.
The news release went on to say that Alannah issued a public statement against PETA after receiving the alleged threat from a person indicating a relationship with the animal rights group. According to a statement published in several international newspapers, Hill stated that police were contacted on August 4 in order to “investigate a disturbing and heated death threat.” The threat was from the e-mail address “newsmanager@peta.org.”
Last night I read on PETA Watch that the fashion designer buckled down to the pressure of PETA after receiving over 4,500 abusive emails and death threats. The last straw for her was when a PETA member threatened her seven year-old son.
This is not the first time that PETA has used threats, insults, slander and even violence to intimidate people to comply with their crazy agenda. There isn’t a country in the world that does not have a mile long file on record about animal rights terrorism against law abiding hard working people that mind their own business and go about a legal profession. Ingrid Newkirk, the founder and president of PETA, herself has gone countless times on public record endorsing violence against people as a justified means to achieve the outlandish anti-human goals of her organization.
PETA spokesperson Ashley Fruno predictably denied being behind the attack.
"That's not something PETA ever does. Our entire philosophy is based on compassion to all beings." Yea right and what you call this or this. If that is what PETA calls "compassion" then God help us.
By the way, Ashley Fruno is one of PETA's most notorious activists. She has been arrested in many countries around the world on grounds of indecent exposure, harassment, intimidation and assault among a long list of other violations. Fruno is blacklisted and barred from entering several countries in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world. Ashley’s claim to animal rights activist fame is that she has been in more jails and courtrooms around the world then most other animal rights. It seems fitting for PETA to choose Fruno, a "hero" of the animal rights movement, as their spokesperson. It also says a lot about the violent nature of that movements agenda.

PETA Issuing Death Threats?
Is PETA showing their true colors again?
From the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance
A recent e-mail sent to an Australian fashion designer from what appeared to be a PETA e-mail address contained an alleged death threat. If found true, PETA will have taken its outrageous acts to a new level.
Fashion designer Alannah Hill issued a public statement against PETA after receiving the alleged threat from a person indicating a relationship with the animal rights group. According to a statement published in several international newspapers, Hill stated that police were contacted on August 4 in order to “investigate a disturbing and heated death threat.” The threat was from the e-mail address “newsmanager@peta.org.”
PETA had been protesting outside Hill’s boutique in Melbourne, Australia by donning Grim Reaper outfits and criticizing use of rabbit fur in her designs.
According to media reports, a PETA staffer indicated that it does oppose Hill’s work, but denied that it was behind the specific threat made in the e-mail.

According to media reports, a PETA staffer indicated that it does oppose Hill’s work, but denied that it was behind the specific threat made in the e-mail.
