Smoking Cigarettes and Gun Powder Don’t Mix

J.R. Absher from the Newshound tells us about two teenage boys shoplifting a canister of black powder at the local Wal-Mart in Bayou Black, Louisiana.
According to the report the long fingers wanted to make a bomb. In the kitchen one of the idiots flicked a still burning cigarette butt, which happens to land in close proximity to the open black powder canister. The result of this thoughtless action was a huge explosion damaging the kitchen and dining room. Both youths were treated for minor burns before they were booked.

You’ll have to head over to the Newshound to read the full story where J.R. posted it in the appropriately named category “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up”. It’s hard to believe that people can be that stupid. On a more serious note, I fear that the anti gun groups will be over that incident like the maggots over a rotting carcass.

Two stupid people bought gun powder to do something illegal. Yes, the anti's will probably claim that, if gun powder were regulated, this wouldn't have happened. Somehow they always manage to miss the fact that the people who made the purchase were planning to do something illegal. I'm doubting regulation would have stopped them.

Kristine, they didn't buy it - they stole it. These guys weren't the brightest tools in the shed, that's for sure!

A good argument for quitting smoking. Hope Rex reads it.

Darrell,

You're right. So they were doing lots of illegal stuff. Having a law against what they were doing would have made such a difference.

I would have to agree they weren't the smartest guys on the planet.
