On February 18, my friend Bill Otway was officially inducted into the Canadian Anglers Hall of Fame. The ceremony was held at the Ontario Fishing & Boat Show. Patrick Walsh, Editor of the Outdoor Canada Magazine, had the honour of presenting the induction to Dan Otway, who accepted the distinction on behalf of his late father Bill Otway.
At that same ceremony the Rick Amsbury Award, presented annually to persons in the angling community who have made outstanding contributions throughout the year, was presented to Leo Stakos and Ron James of Fish TV. As well to be handed out, the annual Conservation Award, given to a group deemed to have made the biggest contribution to fisheries conservation. This award was presented to Muskies Canada for the restoration project on Lake Simcoe and other initiatives.
Here are a few images of the Bill Otway Canadian Angler Hall of Fame induction.
The Medal
The inductees and award winners, far left Dan Otway, son of Bill Otway accepting the award on behalf of his father.
Bill Otway is permanently displayed at the Canadian Anglers Hall of Fame. A place where we honour the people that dedicated their lives to the conservation and preservation of the Canadian fisheries and made a lasting difference by doing so.
