Sorry for the Absence

© By Othmar Vohringer

This is a short note to all my readers to say sorry that I did not update the blog as I should have. But such is life when you get a really bad cold and barely able to stand on your feet.

A particularly nasty cold bug makes its rounds here in British Columbia. This is one of the new generation bugs that are resistant to all known cold medicines. The cold manifests itself with a sore throat, joint pains and a dry (painful) cough. After about three days the cold goes away only to return a week later again hitting harder.

This can go on like that for up to six weeks, I am in the second week now. Everybody in our company has this cold. The ones that suffer less, like me, still work but at night we come home beat up. All I want is a hot shower, a meal and then hit the bed.

On Sunday afternoon I felt a little better and with the sun finally coming out we went for a short walk in the Pitt Marsh - a beautiful place and my favorite duck hunting area - near our home. Below I leave you with a picture that I took of the Pitt Marsh.

I have not grown tired of blogging but I am too tired to blog at the moment.

The cold viruses this year have been the worst. I've been battling the one I have for over two months now. Nasty thing!

I hope you feel better soon. I also absolutely love that picture at the end of the post. I'm assuming Artemis took it?

Gorgeous photo - and I hope seeing that scene with your own eyes made you feel better. Getting out in the sunshine lately has helped diminish the bug that's hung with me all winter. Then again, I live at a lower latitude, so my sunshine's pretty strong right now.

Sorry, I just read through the post again and saw that you took the picture. Nice work.

Thank you all for the kind words and wishes. I am starting to feel a little better and hopefully soon will have the strength to write again. It’s hard to write anything half decent with a non-stop pounding headache and coughing fits. The good news is. It only can get better.

Hope you're feeling better. I was pretty sick around christmas, but I think that is because I sat on the stand from sun up to sun down while it was snowing in hopes of having a big 10 pointer walk by! The things us hunter's do! Get well soon Othmar.

Hope you are feeling better. I too have been suffering from a terrible cold. It just doesn't seem to want to go away.

Thank you all for your concern and wishes. Right now I am feeling a little better, but as the doctor said this particular cold comes and goes it can last up to three months. It’s one of these new generation super bugs that goes around all over North America.
